Thanks for visiting my website! I’m a lecturer in the Business Communication Program in the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management. From 2017-23, I was a lecturer in the English Department’s Foundations Writing Program, where I also served as an affiliate faculty member in the Rhetoric, Composition, and Teaching of English (RCTE) graduate program. In addition, I served on the faculty of Community Classroom, the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences’ Lifelong Learning program for which I taught The Craft of Professional Editing

I’ve been an educator since 1986. I’ve taught in five state universities — two of which are Hispanic serving Institutions — and in four countries outside the US. I have an extensive service record — including eight administrative positions — that includes program directorships, curriculum coordination, program assessment, and faculty governance. I have also presented more than 30 conference presentations, held several editorial posts for academic journals, published a chapter in Writing Spaces, Volume 3, and served as a consultant in the private sector.

I hold a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Technical Communication from Michigan Technological University, an M.A. in English from Northeastern University, and a B.A. in English from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. I also have TEFL certification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from the Maximo Nivel Language Center in San Pedro, Costa Rica.

My primary teaching areas include business communication, technical and professional writing, multimodal composition, English as a Second Language, and American literature. I’ve also taught public speaking, film theory and criticism, history of ideas, dramatic arts, introductory linguistics, and general humanities courses. I currently administer the website Takes on Tucson, which features articles composed by my former students in UA’s Foundations Writing Program.
